Longing, Memory, Sight

The sculpture Longing, Memory, Sight explores the human histories of the ANZAC story. Representing a page from a notebook or letter at monumental scale, the work gestures to the written correspondence from Australian soldiers to their loved ones.

Evoking a torn and fragile piece of paper, the aluminium sculpture sits upon a granite plinth which contains text from original letters and postcards from soldiers.

The site-specific work marks the beginning of the Ceremonial Walk to the water, where the ANZAC troops departed to the battlefields of the First World War.
